Barcelona watching Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt

Real Madrid and Barcelona are watching Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The teenager is already a senior Holland international and his emergence over the last year has sparked the interest of clubs across Europe.

El Mundo Deportivo says Real and Barca have posted scouts to the Eredivisie to focus on De Ligt and his progress this season.

Barca have already asked about the 18 year-old, having been alerted to the youngster by scouts watching Davinson Sanchez, now of Tottenham, last term.

For their part,Ajax are calm over the situation, with De Ligt extending his contract over the summer to 2021.
