Iniesta gets medical clearance, resumes training

Barcelona skipper Andres Iniesta has resumed full training after missing the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup and the first game of the league season to injury.

The midfielder did appear in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at Camp Nou in which he played 68 minutes before going off with a knock to his right leg.

Barcelona who face have been drawn with Juventus, Sporting CP and Greek champions Olympiakos in group D of the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League campaign on Thursday confirmed the return of the Spain international.

“Andrés Iniesta has been given the medical all clear. The Barça number 8 missed the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid and the first league fixture of the season against Betis due to a thigh problem.”

Iniesta’s return to first team training on Thursday means he could be available for the Catalans’ trip to Deportivo Alaves in a La Liga week two fixture.
