Barcelona line up Marco Verratti’s replacement

Barcelona pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has taken another twist as the French team has placed a valuation too high for Barcelona to match, the Camp Nou giant have enquired about Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia as an alternative for Marco Verratti.

ESPN report that the 24-year-old Kondogbia will be the alternate option for Barca if they fail to sign Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Verratti.

Nice’s Jean Michael Seri and Juventus’ Miralem Pjanic, Barcelona is believed to be scouting Guangzhou Evergrande’s Paulinho are all among the options for the Spanish side is considering if the deal for Verratti failed.

Kondogbia for Sevilla in the past where he was instrumental in the Europa win in 2013/2014 season, the Andalusian team bought him for a fee believed to be around €4 million from RC Lens.

His performances in La Liga and the victorious Europa League run earned him a return to France as in 2013, newly promoted AS Monaco offered €20 million for the defensive midfielder.

He helped them qualify for the Champions League after a decade and, after two successful seasons, left for Inter for €36 million.

Kondogbia is a strong tackler and he is also skilled in dribbling something hard to come by from a defensive midfielder.
