Despite going through an unpleasant training camp in Badagry ahead of the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup slated for Bahamas this month(April), coach of the Super Sand Eagles, Audu Ejor believes the team’s priority is to reach the semi final stages of the competition regardless of their difficult group.
The team are in group B alongside tournament favourites
Italy, Mexico and Iran and will commence their title quest against Italy on April 27 before confronting Mexico on April 29 and then Iran on May 2nd.
Nigeria’s best outing at the competition, is a quarter-final finish at the 2011 edition in Italy and Ejor told Soccernet.com.ng from their training camp in Badagry that the team hope to scale through the group stages and make it to the semi final of the competition.
“We don’t really want to complain about our preparation for the Beach Soccer World Cup even though it would have been better if we had our training camp in Europe where the team could have played one or two international friendly matches with teams that are also coming to the tournament,” Ejor told Soccernet.com.ng
“However, we are happy with the spirit in camp and I believe with self determination the Super Sand Eagles can qualify from this group and make it to the semi final stages of the competition.
“We are motivated as a team and we will not only pay attention to what we do here alone but also watch what our opponents are also doing before the tournament kickoff this month.” he said.
