Teranga Lions, Stallions Pose No Threat To Super Eagles – Sokari

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eagles midfielder, Kingsley Sokari has stated that he expects Nigeria to overcome the challenges of Senegal and Burkina Faso in the international friendly ties that will be played in London.

The encounter which will serve as a preparatory ground for the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa and 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on August 28, will see the three-time Africa champions play the Teranga Lions on March 23rd before squaring up against the Stallions of Burkina Faso on March 27th.

Sokari, who will be remembered for his thunderous 30-yard goal against North Korea at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, told soccernet.com.ng from his base in Tunisia that the Super Eagles have what it takes to beat Senegal and Burkina Faso.

“I am confident that the Super Eagles will beat Senegal and Burkina Faso even though it’s just a friendly encounter. Mind you, Nigerians are always after results and anything short of a convincing result could affect the team’s monthly FIFA rankings,” Sokari told soccernet.com.ng

“So far, I have this believe that the future is bright under Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr considering the fact that he’s molded a formidable team blessed with youth and experience. Besides, he has giving young players room to express themselves in the team and as you know, the youth are the future of the Super Eagles.”

Meanwhile, the former Enyimba midfielder also noted that he can’t wait for the Super Eagles to rediscover the lost glory, which made them to be known as the giant of Africa football.

“To be frank, I want the Super Eagles to regain their pride as one of Africa’s best teams because they deserve to be at the pinnacle of Africa football. This I believe will help the young players in getting lucrative contract in Europe and also promote the image of our football,” he said.
