James Rodriguez has felt undervalued at Real Madrid by management and coaching staff for some time, it has been revealed.
The Colombia midfielder has declared he wants to leave Real next month, with England and Chelsea his likely destination.
Diariomadridista says there’s three reasons behind James’ decision to quit the Spanish giants.
First, the attacker is upset that he lost his senior status under coach Zinedine Zidane. With former coach Carlo Ancelotti, James played his best football and was regarded as a key player alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
However, under Zidane, James has seen both his place and his status dramatically diminish in 2016.
Secondly, despite constant calls from his agent Jorge Mendes, Real have refused to open new contract talks with James. This despite seeing Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Ronaldo and Lucas Vázquez all handed new terms.
Thirdly, James simply feels undervalued at Real. With Colombia he is captain and in South America still regarded among the world’s best players. But at Real, his situation is a stark contrast – and he’s had enough.
