Lionel Messi celebrates goal vs Osasuna |
Barcelona put up their second consecutive perfect performance as they beat Osasuna 3-0 at El Sadar in their 15th game of the 2016/2017 La Liga games.
Three second half goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez ensured the Catalans keep up the pace with Real Madrid at the top of the table. Messi scored twice, the entire team played well, here’s how the players fared in Pamplona.
MARC ANDRE TER STEGEN – 6.5
Was lucky not to concede from Sergio León’s chip but did spectacularly to keep out a powerful shot late on. Didn’t do much but was great when called upon.
SERGI ROBERTO – 8.0
He was fantastic down the right in both attack and defence.. had a couple of beatiful runs and dribbles and it was like he saw Vidal vs Gladbach and didn’t want to lose his place he played fantastically.
GERARD PIQUÉ – 7.0
Didn’t quite have much to do in defence but deserves credit for his passing, composure and leadership in the back line. A good game overall.
SAMUEL UMTITI – 8.0
Was fantastic.. was like a stop at the back, solid throughout the game and his linkup with the players on the left was top draw. Had a chance to score with a header but didn’t take it. Great game.
JORDI ALBA – 8.5
One of his best games in a while, Digne’s arrival improved him immensely.. did well to assist Suárez and Messi for Barça’s first two goal.. decision making has improved greatly. Superb.
ANDRÉ GOMES – 7.0
Looked very comfortable playing alongside Iniesta and Busquets.. composed and was perfect with his passing.. his positioning improved in that RCM role. Was subbed off for Rafinha in the second half.
SERGIO BUSQUETS – 7.5
Looks to be back to his best pulling two consecutive great performances for the first time this season. Barça’s first goal was mostly fown to him, intelligence in midfield is unmatched, bossed the game.
ANDRÉS INIESTA – 7.5
He was all over the pitch and was superb in defence. His switching of play helped a lot and he did well to motivate the team going forward. Almost scored a spectacular volley but ball went wide.
LIONEL MESSI – 9.0
Man of the Match easily.. was at the heart of every attack. Missed two chances early on after setting up Suárez with a crazy one time pass. Engineered the attack for the first goal, scored the other two, the second a wonder goal.. great game.
LUIS SUÁREZ – 7.0
Missed a good chance after 8 minutes and hit the post few minutes later. Set up Messi with a great pass which the Argentine missed, worked hard and got his reward by grabbing Barça’s first goal. His best performance in a long time.
ARDA TURAN – 6.5
Didn’t offer too much, wasn’t Neymar on that left wing but played a more matured football. Didn’t try to dribble, played really simple and it really helped the team.
SUBSTITUTES…
DENIS SUÁREZ – 6.5
Replaced Arda Turan for the final 25 minutes, didn’t do spectacularly but was satisfactory.. had a hand in Barça’s second goal.
RAFINHA ALCÁNTARA – 6.0
Came on for Gomes for the final 15 minutes, didn’t do anything wrong.
THE TEAM – 8.5
They kept on pushing for the goal, although they missed a lot of chances in the first half, they played perfect football.. all players did 100%.. great game.
LUIS ENRIQUE – 8.0
Perfect lineup, great substitutions.. nothing wasn’t good.
