Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles started on a good note by defeating their Egyptian counterpart, 3-2 at the ongoing Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations at the Eko Atlantic Beach on Tuesday to improve their chances of qualifying for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles in 2017.
Nigeria scored first in the first quarter, and later added the second in the series. The Egyptian later reduced the deficit towards the end of the first quarter, and later got the equalizer towards the end of the game.
Nigeria got the match-winner towards stoppage time to give the Adamu Audu Ejoor tutored-side first win in the day one of the competition. In the earlier game of the day, Madagascar defeated Libya 9-5, while, Senegal beat Morocco 2-1 in the second game.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is playing host to the second edition of the African Beach Soccer competition, with Sand Eagles aiming at winning the competition on home soil and also book their place in the Beach Soccer World World later next year.
