Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has disclosed that the team is battle ready to face the Desert Foxes of Algeria in Saturday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The Chelsea midfielder hasn’t had a Premier League game on his belt since joining the team after the conclusion of the Rio Olympic Games, where the team won bronze medal but has enjoyed two competitive matches against Tanzania and Zambia under team’s technical adviser, Genort Rohr.
Nigeria will be hoping to claim the maximum points in a bid to consolidate their lead position in group B, having won their first match 2-1 against Zambia while Algeria were held 1-1 against Cameroon.
However, the former Lyn Oslo midfielder, insisted that the Super Eagles must doing everything within their will-power to overcome the Fennecs this weekend.
“The World Cup is a special moments for every player who understands the beauty of football at the highest level. We are really prepared to ensure that the Super Eagles maintain their excellent performance in the group and I am confidence we will pick the maximum points against Algeria,” Mikel told AIT Sports programme.
