Mikel: Scolari, Ancelotti allowed me to express myself at Chelsea

Out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has revealed that he played some of his best football at Stamford Bridge under Coaches Luiz Felipe Scolari and Carlo Ancelotti.

The Nigeria captain also stated that he was given enough  room to operate during the reign of Coach Roberto Di Matteo who famously led the Blues to their biggest trophy win, the UEFA Champions League.

In a recent interview with FOUR-FOUR-TWO, Mikel said the demands of each manager differed as they came over to handle the Blues.

“There was a massive difference. Scolari wanted me to express myself the most. Under him, and Ancelotti and [Roberto] Di Matteo, I played some of my best football. Jose is all about balance. If I’m in his team, that’s what I’m doing, and that’s fine by me” Mikel stated.

Presently frozen out by current Italian boss, Antonio Conte, there are speculations that Mikel may be heading for the exit doors at Chelsea after a decade with the London club.

Mikel is in the final year of his contract with Chelsea and is free to hold talks with other teams when the January transfer window opens.

The 29-year-old has spent 10 trophy-laden years with the Blues, making well over 350 appearances
