Iwobi proud of his ‘crazy’ rise at Arsenal

Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi has said that he is proud to have come through the Gunners’ ranks to become a first team regular this season.

Iwobi who was on target for the Super Eagles during the international break submits that his rise at Arsenal is ‘just crazy’.

‘Where I am today is just crazy.’ Iwobi told  Sky Sports HQ.

The 20-year-old who is now an established member of the Gunners first team arrived England at a tender age of seven and joined the Arsenal academy at nine.

He signed his first professional deal at 16 and made his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in October 2015 but unfortunately the North Londoner lost 3-0.

He said: ‘I was looking at Hector [Bellerin] because he was someone who was near enough my age.

‘I looked up to a few guys and I wanted to do it like them but the fact I did it a different way, I’m proud of that.

‘Whether I got the chance to play with the first team or train with the first team, I always tried to do my best.

Currently preparing for their next game against Swansea, Iwobi will be keen to come good against the Welsh side this weekend.
