Darijo Srna to join Barcelona?

Shakhtar Donetsk Darijo Srna linked with Barça
The 2016/2017 summer transfer window is closed but FC Barcelona are still being linked with players and the recent name to be on the list is Shakhtar Donetsk Captain Darijo Srna.
According to Ukrainian website Tribuna, Darijo Srna could join Barça if he rescinds his current contract at Shakhtar Donetsk which is coming to an end at the end of the 2016/2017 season. According to the report on Thursday, Barça are in advanced negotiations with the player who can still join the club as a free agent despite the transfer window being closed as the rules allow players to join clubs at anytime as a free agent.
Srna is an icon for Shakhtar Donetsk, a club where he’s been since 2003 and is now captain of the side. The right-back had a good Euro 2016 tournament with Croatia.
Shakhtar Donetsk president Rinat Akhmetov confirmed that the speculations linking Srna to Barça are true and they will be willing to let the player join the Catalan giants for free if an agreement is reached. “Barcelona are interested in Srna. If they reach an agreement, Shakhtar are ready to let him go without compensation,” he said.
The fact is that it is very unlikely Srna becomes a Barça player as Luis Enrique didn’t consider signing a right-back this summer as he placed full trust in Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal. Apart from that, club officials Robert Fernandez and Albert Soler confirmed that Barcelona transfer business for the summer is done and the squad is now closed.
Despite being 34, Darijo Srna would be a very good addition to the Barça squad as he’s experienced and will take care of a lot of problems in that position, but it is very unlikely he wears the red and blue of Barça in the near future.
