Valencia director says Alcacer is not for sale |
Valencia sporting director Suso Garcia Pitarch have spoken in public concerning recent speculations linking striker Paco Alcacer and goalkeeper Diego Alves to FC Barcelona.
During the presentation of newly signed player Mario Suarez, the Valencia sporting director said some strong words concerning the rumour and clearly stated that the club have no intentions of selling Paco Alcacer to Barça this summer, claiming he has already told the player his position on the situation.
Few days ago, Valencia president Lay Hoon Chan spoke to the fans, making it clear that Alcacer was not for sale, and Suso Garcia has supported the words of the strong woman.
“I maintain the same position as was the club president to 1,058 club members, which does not support any kind of interpretation. Valencia does not want to sell Paco Alcacer,” said Suso Garcia Pitarch, Valencia sporting director when questioned about the possibility of Alcacer joining Barça this summer.
“I have spoken with Alcacer. We don’t want to sell him and he’s happy at the club with the eagerness to score more goals,” he continued.
The interesting part is that Suso Garcia refused to answer a question from a journalist asking for him to be specific with his statement if it was either “Valencia don’t want to sell Alcacer” or “Valencia are not going to sell Alcacer.” This signifies that the deal is still open.
The case of Diego Alves is a completely different one and it looks like he’s more likely to join Barça than Alcacer. Suso Garcia stated that the player is on his way out of the Mestalla as the club cannot meet his wage demands.
“Diego Alves asked for a salary increase and we cannot meet up with his demands,” he said.
Barça are interested in signing Diego Alves as a replacement for Manchester City bound Claudio Bravo. Both transfers are still open and negotiations are ongoing.
