Nwakali off to London to seal Arsenal deal

Flying Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has travelled to England ahead of completing a move to Arsenal, fcnaija.com reports.

The central midfielder has already agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners, but it yet to put pen to paper as he had been with the Nigeria U20s.

Following the failure of the Nigeria U20s to qualify for next year’s U20 Africa Cup of Nations however, Nwakali has now left the shores of Nigeria to London, where he is expected to finally sign a deal.

“Kelechi (Nwakali) left the country on Sunday night to London where he is expected to sign for Arsenal,”a source in the player’s circle told fcnaija.com.

The Arsenal first team is presently in the United States where they have been playing some pre-season friendly games, and while it is unclear if the Nigerian will be a part of the first team set-up next season, it is however expected he will be sent out on loan to garner more experience.
