Ighalo Fires Blank In Watford’s 1-1 Draw To Southampton

By Augustine Akhilomen
Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo couldn’t hit the ground running with goals as Watford drew 1-1 against Southampton at the Saint Mary’s Stadium in Saturday’s Premier League match.
The Nigerian international scored 17 goals during last season EPL and was hoping to continue from that fine form but the Saints had other options as he was marked for the entire 81st minutes that he was on the pitch.
However, Etienne Capoue’s broke the deadlock in the 9th minute for the visiting team when he capitalised on a lose ball to slot home his first goal of the campaign.
The hosts, however, restored parity in the 58th minute through Nathan Redmond who volleyed the ball to the ball to the net after Watford goalkeeper, Heurelho Gomes fumbled with the ball.
Meanwhile, Ighalo’s inability to trouble the defense of Southampton was replaced in the 81st minute for Ikechi Anya.
