Nigerian striker, Emmanuel Emenike registered hisname among scorers, but the goal was not enoughto help Fenerbahce progress in the Champions League, as they lost 3-1 (4-3 on aggregate) to AS Monaco on Wednesday.
French striker, Valere Germain scored twice in the second and 66th minutes for Monaco; Emenike reduced the tally in 53rd minute, while Colombia striker Radamel Falcao scored from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, to send the Yellow Canaries out of the Champions League.
Emenike, who scored Fenerbahce’s two goals in their 2-1 win at home in the first leg, was almost saving the situation in the away tie, before the hosts got the third goal mid-way in the second half.
Elsewhere in Israel, John Ogu scale through with Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 1-0 aggregate win against Brown Ideye’s Olympiacos FC. Celtic without Efe Ambrose defeated FC Astana 2-1 on Wednesday; Astana ended the game with nine-men after two of their players were sent off by the referee.
