Werder Bremen Sporting Director, Frank Bauman has disclosed that Super Eagles forward, Anthony Ujah made a special request to join Liaoning FC.
Ujah’s deal with the Chinese was announced by Werder Bremen, but still subject to a medical. “It was not actually our intention to sell Tony becausehe was set to play an important role in our plans for next season.
“But he told us a few days ago that he would like to accept the offer from China. In the end, we have come to a satisfactory solutionfor both parties so that we could agree to his request.”
Reacting to the move, Ujah said the Chinese deal is something he couldn’t resist. “It was a very difficult decision for me because I’ve become very fond of the city, the club and, above all, the fans in the past year. That’s why a possible transfer didn’t come into question in winter.
“Now there is a new opportunity, which I can’t reject. I’m lucky that I could contribute to the happy ending of last season and wish SVW all the best,” Ujah explained.
Ujah joined Werder from Bundesliga side FC Koln in 2015, and has scored 11 goals in his over 30 appearances in the colours of The Green-Whites.
