According to English source Sky Sports, the blues have joined rivals Manchester United and a host of other top clubs including Juventus to sign the talented midfielder who is currently in the Euro 2016 tournament representing his country Portugal.
Valencia reportedly refused to negotiate with Juventus for the player last week but Chelsea are not relenting on getting the Portuguese and tested Los Che with a 40 million bid which was turned down.
Sky Sports report that Valencia are on a strong ground and are very reluctant to let the player go, they will not sell for anything less than €55 million which is almost four times the amount they paid to sign him (€15 million) last summer from Benfica.
Valencia may not be playing in Europe next season, but they are keen on keeping their precious asset in the team for as long as possible.
