Manchester City’s chances of finishing in the top four of the English Premier League is no longer in their hands after their dream was dealt a huge blow courtesy of a 2-2 draw against third-placed Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday.Manuel Pellegrini was in charge of his last game for Man City at the Etihad and was given a farewell, but the manager won’t be at all happy at the outcome of his side’s result against Arsenal. Man City needed a win to stay in a comfortable top four position and star striker Sergio Aguero fired them into the lead against Arsenal on 8 minutes. The Cityzens didn’t celebrate much as rejuvenated Arsenal forward man Olivier Giroud equalized for the Londoners two minutes later. The game continued that way before Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne restored City’s lead five minutes after the restart with a superb individual goal. City were looking to win it but Alexis Sanchez broke their hearts on 68 minutes after unleashing a thunderous shot to beat Joe Hart thanks to nice link up play with Olivier Giroud who got the assist with a fantastic first touch. It would end that way leaving City hoping Manchester United don’t win all of their last two games.Manchester United are currently 5th on the log, 2 points behind City after the win against Norwich. They play their outstanding fixture on Tuesday against a West Ham team battling for European qualification, if they get all three points then they’ll be ahead of their Manchester neighbours heading into the final fixture of the season next week.
