The new Super Eagles coach has called for the support of his countrymen after announcing the squad with which he plans to prosecute the double header against Egypt later this month.
Samson Siasia, on Thursday, released the list of the 42 players that will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a crucial AFCON qualifier, pleading for fans of the national team, including the sporting media, to stand behind the team and show faith in the players he invited.
“I want to passionately appeal to Nigerians, everybody, to show belief in the team and give us total support. It will not be easy, but if we stick together and present a united force to fight this battle, I believe we will triumph”, the former Super Eagles’ forward told theNFF.com
The former Nantes of France forward, who handed surprise invitations to many of the players he led to win the Africa U23 Cup of Nations in December, has urged all Super Eagles supporters to show faith in the boys selected as every Nigerian player across the globe cannot possibly make the team.
“I have absolute faith in the players. Nigeria is blessed with so many talented footballers across the world and I know that those we are inviting for this match will give everything for the six points in both matches. Personally, I will give everything that I have to offer for us to win both matches.” Siasia concluded.
