Oliseh resigns as Super Eagles Coach

Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has resigned.‎

Oliseh broke the news of his resignation on his Twitter handle in the early hours of Friday.

He gave several reasons for his resignation.‎

‎Among them are unpaid wages and contract violations.
Oliseh tweeted: “Due to Contract violations, lack of Support, Unpaid wages, Benefits to my players, Asst. Coaches & myself, I resign as Super Eagles Chief Coach.”

In an earlier tweet, Oliseh had said he was fortunate to have played for, captained and coached the Super Eagles.
He tweeted: “I feel fortunate, blessed and eternally grateful for having had the honour to Play, Captain & Coach this great Nation of ours, Nigeria.”

Oliseh’s employers, the Nigeria Football Federation, had on Thursday said he will now be reporting to the Head of its Technical Department and former Coach of the Super Eagles, Shuaibu Amodu.

The Chairman of the NFF’s Technical and Development Committee, Barrister Chris Green, made the announcement.

He said Amodu, as the National Technical Director of the NFF, must ratify all the programmes of Oliseh and other coaches of Nigeria’s national football teams.

He said: “Shuaibu Amodu is the National Technical Director and as such he is involved in all the games of the national teams, whether in the under-17, under-20 or Super Eagles.

“Normally, as the National Technical Director, Oliseh will report to him (Amodu), while he (Amodu) reports to the Technical Committee and from there to the General Secretary and finally to the Executive Committee of the NFF.”
