German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed the signing of Nigeria U17 international Victor Osimhen, with effect from January 2017.
It ends speculations surrounding the future of the forward with the likes of Arsenal, Juventus, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon all keen on the teenager’s signature after he rose to prominence during the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup.
As part of the deal taking Osimhen to the Volkswagen Arena, Wolfsburg have formed an alliance with Ultimate Strikers and in the future players on the books of the nursery team will travel to Germany to train with the club.
“We are delighted to welcome our first international cooperation partner, in the Ultimate Strikers Academy, here as VfL Wolfsburg, ” VfL Wolfsburg’s Director of Sport Klaus Allofs said.
“For talented youngsters such as Victor Osimhen, it is a major advantage to combine the games at home with the academy team, with knowledge of youth training and operational processes in European professional football.”
The 17-year-old Victor Osimhen has already trained with the professionals at Wolfsburg.
