Nigerian football recorded another tragedy on New Year day with the death of former Enyimba International goalkeeper, Chinedu Agwu who was pronounced dead after a protracted illness.
Sahara Sport reports that the 29-year-old goalkeeper died few hours into the New Year, giving up the ghost after a long battle to keep his life. Agwu who was also former Kaduna United goalkeeper is the second player less than five days after the death of former Nasarawa United captain, Baba Idris occurred.
Late Agwu was a great penalty kick stopper as second choice goalkeeper, when Kaduna United upset Enyimba in a penalty shootout to win the Federation Cup in 2010, which later earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles same year.
