EPL: Mikel back on field as Alli hits target


Chelsea got back to winning ways in their first game following the sacking of Jose Mourinho. It ended 3 – 1 at Stamford Bridge, with Nigeria international John Obi Mikel involved in action for the last 19 minutes of the contest.

Leicester City continued their fairy tale run in the Premier League, with a 3 – 2 win over Everton away from home. The Toffees number 20, Ross Barkley, worked a 90 – minute shift in midfield and set up the second goal netted by Kevin Mirallas.

Tottenham Hotspur have climbed to fourth position in the standings after their 2 – 0 win over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.

England international Dele Alli will certainly make the back pages tomorrow, thanks to his strike in the 43rd minute, 3 minutes after he created an assist for Harry Kane to score the opening goal.

The midfielder was booked in the 72nd minute and subbed out 7 minutes later. Teammate Josh Onomah did not make the Londoners matchday squad.

Peter Odemwingie is still recovering from a hamstring injury and was not involved in Stoke City’s 2 – 1 loss to Crystal Palace.

Victor Anichebe was an unused sub in West Brom’s 2 – 1 loss to AFC Bournemouth at The Hawthorns . The Super Eagle has been inactive in the league since August 10.
