Former England player, Carlton Palmer, believes Hull City will be first in line to acquire Malcolm Ebiowei in the January transfer window.

HullLive reported last week that the Tigers are interested in signing the Golden Eaglet invitee next month and are hoping to reach an agreement on a loan deal with the Premier League side.

After making three substitute appearances in the Premier League during the 2022–23 season, the 19-year-old, who is related to the assistant coach of the Super Eagles, seems to have limited time at Selhurst Park.

According to reports, he has interest from many Championship teams and will be considering the fastest way to secure a spot in the first squad.

While the team was in Turkey for a mid-season tour, Tigers manager Liam Rosenior, who worked with the 19-year-old at Derby County, expressed interest in Ebiowei.

“He’s a player that I’ve worked with, he’s an exciting player but we have to see what the conditions are in terms of what Crystal Palace want to do with him.” he told Hull Live.

“He’s someone that I would be interested in working with again whether it’s in the short or long term but we haven’t come to make that decision yet.” he added.

Swansea City, nevertheless, is apparently one of the teams interested in recruiting the young player. Palmer, however, thinks that Rosenior’s prior friendship with Ebiowei may help the Tigers convince him to play at MKM Stadium.

“Well, I think it (time together at Derby) puts Hull in the front of the race,” Palmer said.

“He (Ebiowei) has played for Liam before when he was with Derby.

“They know each other really well. He played really well, so they’ve got that connection. So you would think that Liam and Hull would be in pole position to get a signature.” he told Football League World.

Two Super Eagles’ targets battle for Crystal Palace’s Goal of the Month award https://soccernet.ng/2022/11/two-super-eagles-targets-battle-for-crystal-palaces-goal-of-the-month-award.html https://soccernet.ng/2022/11/two-super-eagles-targets-battle-for-crystal-palaces-goal-of-the-month-award.html#respond Thu, 03 Nov 2022 08:33:38 +0000 https://soccernet.ng/?p=82994 The Eagles enjoyed a fantastic October, winning three consecutive matches in front of their home fans at the Selhurst Park

Two players of Nigerian descent Eberechi Oluchi Eze and Malcolm Ebiowei have seen their goals in October selected among the nominees for Crystal Palace’s Goal of the Month award.

Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Ebere Eze has two entries for the award, which include the winning goals in similar 2-1 wins over Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Former Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei also has a shot at the award thanks to his spectacular effort in Crystal Palace u21’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal on the last day of October.

Is Ebere Eze finally out of Super Eagles’ reach?

Born in England to Nigerian parents, Eberechi Eze has featured for England’s u20 and u21 national teams.

The 24-year-old, however, remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, has never hidden the desire to convince the playmaker to switch his international allegiance to the three-time African champions.

A new twist was, however, introduced earlier in the week when England manager Gareth Southgate included Eze in the 55-man comprehensive list of players for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later in November.

Southgate is expected to name a final 26-man squad that will head for the tournament on November 15 – six days before their tournament opener against Iran.

It would be a surprise, though, for Eze to make the World Cup cut, given the huge competition for places in Southgate’s squad.

Should Eze make the World Cup squad, however, it would be shutting the doors on the chances of ever seeing him wear the Super Eagles kit.
