The 18-year-old joined the West London club at the age of six, and he has been touted as the next big thing to come out of Chelsea’s Academy.

Anjorin has represented England at the U-17, U-18 and U-19 level, but he is eligible to play for the Super Eagles, due to his father being a Nigerian.

He made his debut for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup third-round match against Grimsby Town coming off the bench against the League Two side.

Anjorin described the new deal as a ‘brilliant feeling.’

‘It’s a brilliant feeling,’ he told the official Chelsea website. ‘I’ve been at the club since I was six years old so to get to this stage and then be offered another five-year contract on top of that is amazing.

‘I had no hesitation but to take it straight away because to play for the club I always dreamed of playing for is really special for me.’

He has made two appearances for Chelsea this season, including a Premier League debut against Everton in March, and he will be hoping to get many more opportunities when the premier league resumes on June 17.

‘Against Everton, I’ll never forget the fans singing my name because it just felt so amazing. I was on the pitch playing, and then I just heard them chanting ‘Tino, Tino, Tino’. It was unbelievable to hear that.’

Chelsea has relied heavily on their Academy stars this season, with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount playing a key role for The Blues after they were banned from signing players.

Anjorin is the top scorer for Chelsea’s Development Squad before the league was curtailed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

I’m Learning From Willian, Giroud And Pedro – Chelsea’s Anjorin https://soccernet.ng/2020/03/im-learning-from-willian-giroud-and-pedro-chelseas-anjorin.html https://soccernet.ng/2020/03/im-learning-from-willian-giroud-and-pedro-chelseas-anjorin.html#respond Sat, 21 Mar 2020 09:33:24 +0000 https://soccernet.ng/?p=35686 England youth international Faustino Anjorin believes he can only become a better player under the established stars he’s blessed to train with the Chelsea first team.

The young midfielder is gradually making the step-up to the Blues’ senior team, and he’s delighted to be picking lessons from some of the game’s finest.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard handed the 18-year-old his first-team debut in September last year in the Blues’ 7–1 EFL Cup win against Grimsby Town.

The youngster’s Premier League bow arrived against Everton this month as he continues to earn opportunities with the senior team.

The Poole-born midfielder is aware that more is expected of him if he desires to be a permanent feature of Lampard’s side.

He is, however, confident that with help from elite players like Brazil’s Willian, France international Olivier Giroud, and former Barcelona ace Pedro, he stands a good chance of fulfilling his potential.

“The speed, the tempo, everyone’s quicker, stronger, physically bigger,’ he says. ‘They’re elite players. People like Willian, Olivier Giroud, Pedro – he’s won literally everything!” Anjorin told Chelsea’s official webpage.

“Learning from them, getting that experience and advice from them, having a manager like Frank Lampard who’s done it all, it can only make you a better player.”
