The three Nigerian stars played crucial roles as the Gers ran riot at the Fir Park
Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun, and Calvin Bassey were excellent as Rangers recorded their biggest win of the season with a 6-1 thrashing of Motherwell away from home in a Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday.
All three Nigerian internationals were in the starting eleven, but Balogun lasted for 77 minutes, Aribo featured for 82 minutes, while Bassey went the distance as the Gers picked up a win that increased the gap with second-place Celtic to four points.
Bassey assisted James Tavernier’s 43rd-minute finish that cancelled Bevis Mugabi’s 13th-minute opener for Motherwell.
But Fashion Sakala added a hat-trick while the duo of Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe also got on the scoresheet to power Steven Gerrard’s men to an emphatic victory at the Fir Park.
Elsewhere in Turkey, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa was a 90th-minute substitute as Fatih Karagumruk stumbled to a 2-1 defeat at Kayserispor.
Both sides ended with ten men, but it was the home side who managed a 93rd-minute winner after an early Bertolacci strike for Fatih was cancelled out Gavranovic midway through the second period.
Congratulations to Rangers, Bassey, Aribo and Balogun please keep it up
