Fred Onyedima assisted two goals and scored one himself to help Luton cruise to a 3-0 win in their curtain-raiser against Peterborough.
If it were a dream, Fred would never want to wake up from his slumber. The Nigerian midfielder enjoyed a debut that any football player would do anything to have
Fred joined Luton from League One side, Wycombe wanderers for an undisclosed fee. However, his heroics for his new employers on Saturday have disclosed the abundance of talent in the 24-year-old.
The debutant provided sumptuous crosses for Elijah Adebayo’s opener in the 30th minute and Harry Cornick’s second goal in the 68th minute before latching on to James Bree’s pass to score in the 71st minute.
With the amazing performance of the Nigerian, it was no surprise that he bagged the Man-Of-The Match award.
Speaking after the match, Fred stated his satisfaction with his performance.
“It was a dream debut, and I’m just delighted for the win, it couldn’t have gone any better. We wanted to get the goals, not feel sorry for them and wanted to punish them, and I think we did that well.”
The Lagos born Player has never featured for Nigeria at any level.
