The two Super Eagles hopefuls were on the scoresheet for their respective sides in league matches played in Spain on Tuesday evening
Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali got his first goal since moving to Spain with a fine effort that helped Alcorcon earn a point in the 1-1 draw against Real Oviedo at the Estadio Santo Domingo.
The on-loan Huesca star found the back of the net after just two minutes to give the home side the lead in the La Liga Smartbank game week 32 clash.
But hard as they try, coach Anquela’s men could not add to that advantage, and they paid dearly for it as substitute Gustavo Blanco scrambled home a late equaliser for the visitors.
The point momentarily lifts Alcorcon out of the relegation zone to 18th on the table. But 21st-placed Cartagena can overtake them with a win later on Saturday.
Elsewhere at the Estadio La Rosaleda, Nigeria’s Umar Sadiq played an instrumental role as Almeria forced a heavy 3-0 defeat down Malaga’s throat.
Sadiq, who missed Nigeria’s Afcon-qualifying matches, smashed home Almeria’s third goal in the 77th minute after Lucas Robertone and Jose Carlos Lazo had given the away side a comfortable lead in the first half.
That strike was the 24-year-old’s 19th goal contribution for Almeria in the 27 league games since his summer switch from Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade.
Sadiq has managed 14 goals and five assists to power Jose Gomes’ side to the third spot on the Segunda Division table and within one point of joint leaders Espanyol and Mallorca.
