The Nigerian international joined Monaco from Everton last summer but has only played 160 minutes of football, scoring just one goal since the move.
Onyekuru’s time at the Stade Louis II has been hampered by injury, while he has also found himself on the bench when he is fit. With him struggling to get game time under Leonardo Jardim, a move in January has been mooted.
However, the former Anderlecht striker has revealed he will only leave for Galatasary despite the interest of Russian clubs, CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow.
Speaking in a recent interview, the 22-year-old revealed he has no plans to move to Russia, but he will jump at the opportunity to join Galatasary again.
“I don’t have any Russia in my career plans. If Galatasaray makes the transfer and agree with Monaco, I would like to go to my old team without hesitation.”
Onyekuru had a successful stint with Galatasary last season where he was on loan from Everton. The Super Eagles striker made 44 appearances for the Lions in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
The Turkish champions were interested in making the loan move permanent, but they could not agree a deal with Everton. It is now left to be seen if they will be able to reach an agreement with Monaco.
