Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has hit back at his critics over his refusal to invite NPFL players, while also saying he did not have a discussion with NFF’s President, Amaju Pinnick concerning a clause in his contract.
Speaking with reporters, Pinnick claimed the Federation will only extend Rohr’s contract if he agrees to a clause which will require him attending NPFL games.
However, in his press conference for the Super Eagles game against Benin which Soccernet.ng was well represented by its chief editor, Rohr revealed he does not know anything about that.
“No, he didn’t speak about it at all, but I know that he has sometimes a different opinion like me, that’s football.”
“But I never accept it to make a choice coming from the officials. My choice is the choice of sports arguments only to take the best players, Rohr said.
“Unfortunately, we could not take more players from the local league because they did not play”. So it was difficult for them to be match fit, he added.
“And also the Chan team, unfortunately, could not qualify, so it is a problem perhaps they miss competitions, Rohr said.”
