Manchester United had one of their worst performances in Europe as the Red Devils played out a goalless draw against AZ Alkmaar in Thursday’s Europa League.
The team failed to have any shot on target and hardly threatened the AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper throughout the entire 90 minutes.
Soccernet.ng x-ray the performance of the Man United players against the Dutch side.
David de Gea 7: Made a firm stop from Oussama Idrissi and showed good use of his feet before making a couple more standard saves.
Diogo Dalot 4: Was rebuked early on by Solskjaer and it set the tone for another cowed evening. Looks drained of confidence following the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Victor Lindelof 7: The steadiest performer and one of the few who mastered the plastic surface with their passing.
Marcos Rojo 6: There was the obligatory flicker of recklessness but he fared reasonably alongside Lindelof.
Brandon Williams 5: Game enough on his full debut at left-back but lacked composure in the final third a couple of times. Earned appreciation from fans.
Nemanja Matic 3: Cumbersome in midfield and offered little in either a defensive or attacking capacity again.
Fred 3: The jury may be delivering their verdict soon. Wasteful again on his midweek outing and never looked like picking the AZ lock.
Angel Gomes 5: One of the more respectable performers and refused to go into hiding. Had a half-chance in the first half and completed 90 minutes.
Juan Mata 5: Remained in the playmaker role as Solskjaer tinkered with the other forwards but United were too rigid.
Daniel James 4: Started as the center-forward and became predictably isolated and was moved to the right. Did not play where he should play on the left.
Mason Greenwood 4: Never really got going wherever he played, having started on the right. Substituted for Jesse Lingard.
Subs
Marcus Rashford 5: Should have had a penalty and blasted a free-kick over.
Jesse Lingard 5: Had a decent chance. Went off injured.
Scott McTominay 5: Came on late.
