Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali delivered a man-of-the-match performance for Chippa United as they held SuperSport United to a goalless draw in the South African Premier Soccer League on Tuesday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Playing at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha, the 27-year-old shot-stopper made four exceptional saves to secure a vital clean sheet.
Nwabali’s heroics helped Chippa United climb to fifth on the PSL table with 11 points from eight matches.

This marked Nwabali’s first appearance since the loss of his father, a personal tragedy that saw him miss Nigeria’s final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo.
The former Enyimba FC goalkeeper was on duty for Nigeria in their 1-1 draw with Benin Republic in Abidjan when he received the heartbreaking news.
He was subsequently excused from the Super Eagles squad to mourn. Without Nwabali, Nigeria suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Rwanda, with Maduka Okoye deputising in goal.
Despite the emotional toll, Nwabali showed immense mental strength, returning to Chippa United’s starting lineup and putting in a remarkable display.
He denied key attempts from Tashreeq Morris, Lyle Lakay, and Bradley Grobler to frustrate SuperSport United.
Nwabali’s commanding performance highlighted his resilience and ability earning him the man-of-the-match award.
The Nigerian international and his Chippa United teammates will aim to return to winning ways when they host Magesi on Saturday, November 30.
