Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has made the German Bundesliga team of the game week following his brace and assist for Bayer Leverkusen against Hoffenheim last Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface made headlines on Saturday after scoring two goals and nicking an assist in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 drubbing of Hoffenheim at the PreZero Arena. It was the Nigerian’s first two goals of the Bundesliga, and it eventually made the difference for his side.
Following his performance on Saturday, Boniface has been named in the Bundesliga team of the week. He completes a forward line that has Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.
The midfield is made up of Vincenzo Grifo, Florian Wirtz, and Baku Ridle. Then the defense line consists of Benjamin Henrichs, Castello Lukeba, Diogo Leite and Marius Wolf. Union Berlin’s Frederik Ronnow completes the starting eleven as the goalkeeper.
However, it is worthy of note that Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka did not make the team despite his impressive showing for Augsburg, helping them to a 3-1 win on Sunday.
Boniface is no stranger to making the Bundesliga team of the week. Last season, he was a regular until the second half of the campaign when he sustained an injury.
