Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen now has a new boss at Napoli, as the club have confirmed the appointment of Italian tactician Antonio Conte as the new coach, Soccernet.ng reports.
Napoli had one of the worst title defenses in the Serie A last season. After Luciano Spalletti left the club last summer, they hired three different coaches because of their poor performances.
They started the season with Rudi Garcia, then sacked him and appointed Walter Mazzarri, before finally Francesco Calzona, who was in charge till the end of the season.
However, Calzona left the job at the end of the season, and Napoli have been searching for a coach to take them into next season. Former Chelsea boss Conte was already heavily linked with the Partenopeans weeks before the end of the campaign.
And in a new development, Napoli have confirmed Conte as their new gaffer. Both parties have been in talks for weeks, and they had a dinner on Tuesday evening to seal the deal.
Conte has signed a three-year deal, and would be looking to help the club return to their level of two seasons ago. It is difficult to see him working with Osimhen though because the Nigerian striker has been linked with a transfer away from Naples. Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG have been touted as potential destinations. However, nothing concrete has been announce yet.
