Nigeria’s Super Eagles have experienced a slight setback in the latest FIFA ranking, dropping two spots from 28th to 30th in the world, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
The drop comes in the wake of the team’s performances during the recent international break, where they faced off against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali in friendly matches.
While they secured a victory against Ghana in the much-anticipated ‘Jollof Derby’ with a 2-1 scoreline, they suffered a defeat to Mali in Morocco.
This mixed performance has been cited as a contributing factor to their decline in the FIFA rankings since the last update in February, just after the conclusion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Despite the drop, the Super Eagles maintain their position as the third-best team in Africa, ahead of countries like Ghana, Egypt, and Canada.
However, despite their strong performance in the year 2024, they still trail behind Morocco and Senegal, who hold the top two spots on the continent.
As the Super Eagles continue their preparations and build-up towards upcoming World Cup qualifiers, it is hoped that the team will bounce back stronger and reclaim their position among the top-ranked teams in the world.
