Confirmed: Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho rejoins the Queens

The Nigerian shot-stopper spent a year on loan with the GSP Stadium landlords, and he has made a sensational return hours after cancelling his contract at Apoel

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has rejoined Omonia Nicosia, one of the most popular and the most historically successful football clubs in Cyprus.

Uzoho had momentarily become a free agent after his former club Apoel Nicosia announced on transfer deadline day that the 22-year-old had paid to have his contract terminated. He had two years left on his contract with the Legend.

But the former Deportivo la Coruna shot-stopper has taken to his social media account to declare his return to the Queens.

“Happy to be back home,” Uzoho wrote on Instagram.

He will join compatriots Iyayi Atiemwen, on loan from Dinamo Zagreb, and Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi at the club.

Nurtured at the Aspire Academy, Uzoho moved to the Deportivo La Coruna academy in 2017, featuring for the club’s B and first teams.

The Nwangele-born keeper took different loan stints at Elche, Anorthosis Famagusta, and AS Omonia before sealing a permanent move to Apoel last year.

Uzoho is currently with the Super Eagles squad training in Lagos, preparing ahead of this month’s 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
