Good News For Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 Squad

The team has finally been rewarded two years after they beat Tunisia 1-0 in the third-place match of Africa’s biggest sporting competition

Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt have finally received their bonus from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Super Eagles squad finished third in the competition, beating Tunisia in the third-place match, but they never received their bonus for each match played.

Soccernet had earlier reported that the players had not received a match bonus since their loss to Algeria in the semifinals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The NFF is also yet to pay the team’s head coach Gernot Rohr and goalkeeping coach Alloy Agu a backlog of salaries.

However, according to BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji, the NFF has finally paid the players that went to 2019 Afcon their bonus, although it’s not clear if Rohr and Agu have also received their salaries.

The Super Eagles will be back in action next month when they kick off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Liberia.

  • What a shame! After two years and they are proud to put this in the news. VERY GOOD MANAGES OF OUR SPORTS BODY.

  • NFF should try to encourage our players to do better; mostly when they loose their Matches. Football is not all the time winning; sometimes you win while at times you loose.
