Dessers Reveals Summer Plans

Heracles Almelo striker, Cyril Dessers, says he is looking forward to the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for European clubs following his impressive form in the Dutch Eredivisie this season.

He finished as the joint top-scorer with 15 goals in 26 matches when the league was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Dessers was linked with a move away from the Dutch club in the January transfer window with clubs in Italy, Spain and Portugal reportedly ready to battle it out for his signature, but Heracles blocked the move.

However, the former Utrecht striker revealed he’s looking forward to what the future holds this summer as he returns to training with Heracles.

“I’m glad I have something to do during the day again,” Dessers said in an interview with FOX Sports via Utrechtfans.

“But whether I leave? I have no idea. It will be a very exciting summer for me. Everything that doesn’t happen will not make it any easier.”

“On the other hand: I have had a good season and became a top scorer. That is good advertising.”

The 25-year-old is still awaiting confirmation from the league organisers, the Royal Dutch Football Association on the top scorer award for the 2019/2020 season.

“I haven’t heard anything yet, but I’m curious. I actually hope to get confirmed that I am top scorer. But I don’t know.
“They have enough other things to think about now, I think,” he added.

He returned to Heracles training this week in preparation for next season even though this campaign was brought to an abrupt end because of the coronavirus.

Dessers was born in Belgium to a Belgian father and Nigerian mother, but he decided to represent Nigeria.

Gernot Rohr invited the former Utrecht striker for the 2021 Afcon qualifiers against Sierra Leone, but the matches could not hold because of coronavirus.
