It’s been over a month since the coronavirus pandemic halted on-field football activities. Still, it appears to have little effect on off-field football actions as French business mogul Gerard Lopez hints that summer negotiations may have kicked off.
Lille President Gerard Lopez has revealed that a couple of Premier League clubs have lodged bids for a few of Les Dogues players with Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, one of the French side’s most in-demand stars.
Chelsea and Everton are big admirers of Lille’s 22-year-old Brazilian defender Gabriel dos Santos while midfielder Boubakary Soumare is a reported target of Newcastle United and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, a host of Spanish and English sides, including Manchester United, are in the race to sign Victor Osimhen, with the 21-year-old striker having contributed 26 goals (18 goals and six assists) in all competitions in his debut season in France.
Any of these players could be on the way to England when football returns and the transfer window is opened, says Lopez.
“Indeed, LOSC has received three firm offers over the past two weeks, including two from England,” Lopez told AFP as per TribalFootball.
“I think that a possible drop in prices will not penalise LOSC, because we have young players with a lot of potential who are in great demand.
“There are only three or four players who should leave, not ten, so it won’t affect our transfer window.
“LOSC is in a special situation because we made the Champions League this season, we made a very good last summer transfer window, and we had a record year in terms of marketing and ticketing, so we are not dependent on trading.”
