The Dream Team line-up at the African U-23 Championship in Senegal.
By: Obiweluozo Martins
As match day 2 of the African U-23 Championship came to an end we saw the Dream Team of Nigeria sharing the Spoils with the Junior Pharaohs of Egypt in a tension parked game.
The Eagles took the lead on both occasions from the penalty spot in the 21st and 30th minutes as Oghenekaro Etebo struck twice to give the Dream Team a two goal cushion only for the lead to be surrendered as the Egyptians scored twice to equalize in the second half.
With the 2-2 draw against North African side Egypt the Dream Team performance is under focus as they walk a tight rope to Olympic qualification.
SoccerNet Nigeria reviews the performance of the Dream Team VI against Egypt.
EMMANUEL DANIEL (6.5)
Had a decent game between the sticks as he made crucial saves to keep his team alive .Came out to the rescue of the defence on more than one occasion.
SINCERE SETH (6.0)
Joined the attack well but lacked incisive passes to open up play from the right back position. Good defending from him though.
SEGUN ODUDUWA (6.0)
A fine performance from the center back as he made several stops in the defence with nice interceptions from the backline.
CHIZOBA AMAEFULE (5.0)
Did more of chorus defending, relied more on his partner and lacked the pace to halt the Egyptian as he committed a dangerous foul in the vital area.
NDIFREKE EFFIONG (4.5)
Did not join the attack, was solid and compact in the first period but was exposed by the Egyptians after the intermission.
AZUBUIKE OKECHUKWU (6.5)
Ran the show in midfield with aplomb with some nice dribbles. Distributed the ball well but was occasionally guilty with some misplaced passes.
USMAN MOHAMMED (6.0)
Showed a glimpse of his quality at some point in the game as he drew fouls in midfield but was not so helpful to his partner Okechukwu.
OGHENEKARO ETEBO (6.5)
Scored twice from the spot, was mobile althrough the game and good on the ball as he drives the team forward with some sweet touches on the ball.
STANLEY DIMGBA (5.5)
Delivered telling crosses into the box which resulted to those penalties but was guilty of poor decision making on the left wings. Did some nice defending as well.
TAIWO AWONIYI (4.5)
For the second game running Taiwo failed to assert himself into the game as he was hurled off ten minutes after the intermission.
JUNIOR AJAYI (5.0)
Had little to do in the game as he was marked and lacks the correct services to thrive on.
KUFRE EBONG (4.0)
Came in for Awoniyi and added a little bit of pace to the game but still did not deliver the needed goal.
GODSPOWER ANIEFIOK (3.5)
Came in and added a bit of stability to the team as the Dream team settled for a draw.
BATARU YARO (3.0)
Had a golden chance to win it for Nigeria but instead he blazed the ball high to the sky.
